Possible Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Benchmarked, Up to Par with Apple’s A11 Bionic Chip!
All Flagship devices launched this year packed in, Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 except Huawei and Samsung devices which had HiSilicon Kirin or Exynos chipsets. The successor to the 845 is supposed to be the 85and not to be confused with 850 made for Windows 10 PCs. Snapdragon 855, may have just been benchmarked inside a development board. The Geekbench listing doesn't give us the chipset's name, only its codename - "msmnile".
The chip was paired with 6GB of RAM and ran Android 9.0 Pie. The Single core performance of the chip is still a little behind the Apple’s A11 which is 3,697 of Snapdragon 855 to A11’s 4,300. And A11 was Apple’s flagship chipset from last year.
In terms of Multi-core performance, Snapdragon 855 fares pretty well at a score of 10,469 which matches Apple’s A11 bionic chip. Qualcomm and Microsoft have already been working on Windows on ARM for a while, and this might be the next SoC for that endeavor, it's impossible to tell at the moment for sure. For what it's worth, the test device with "msmnile" at the helm has also been spotted at HTML5test, where its Chrome Dev browser scored 510 out of 555 points.
This is not impressive on paper at least as Apple may introduce its A12 chip at its event on September 12 alongside new iPhones. The A12 chips will definitely be an upgrade over A11 offering better performance. You can expect Snapdragon to be defeated by Apple again this year. The 855 chipset can likely also be for Ultrabook or portable Windows devices. For more Tech News and Tech Info, Visit RW Tech Blog.
