MIUI for POCO: Everything You Need to Know from App Tray to Turbocharged Engine!
POCO launched its first flagship POCO F1 today and boy is it amazing value for money! You can know about its specifications, features, price, and availability here. The POCO F1 offers Snapdragon 845, 6GB RAM and many other features just at 20,000 INR, making it the cheapest phone with Snapdragon 845. Along many of those features, POCO is said to be launched with its own UI that is MIUI for POCO. MIUI for POCO is a tweaked MIUI for POCO phones on top of Android 8.1 Oreo.
App Tray
This is one of the most wanted features for MIUI users as it is nice to have all the apps in one place. And the App Tray for MIUI for POCO is no normal App Tray. It has features like double swipe to right for hidden apps and can distribute apps by icon color. They also have a little bar up at the top which separates apps by functions like entertainment, news, and social media. This is a small but very useful feature for stock Android lovers.
Support for Third Party Icons
MIUI for POCO also supports third-party icon packs and custom launchers which you can download from the Google Play store. This is not a feature exactly as Android phones have a native support for that but it is worth mentioning.
Treble Support
The POCO F1 supports Project Treble which is an Android program to speed up Android updates and security updates. The POCO F1 comes with Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box on top of MIUI for POCO. POCO promises Android Pie update in Q4 this year but developers can make custom ROMs.
Hidden Apps
Like normal MIUI, MIUI for POCO also supports Hidden Apps and App lock which can be accessed from the App tray. They can be seen by swiping right tice in the App tray and require to unlock.
Third-Party Development
Like mentioned above, POCO F1 supports third-party ROM development and company is going to upload the source code for the phone on GitHub. And like Xiaomi phones, rooting the device or unlocking the bootloader will not void the warranty.
Turbocharged Engine
Turbocharged engine involves AI and uses it to learn your patterns and segregates resources between Foreground and Background Apps, providing foreground apps more resources. This is helpful while gaming as it increases the performance by complimenting features like Liquid Cooling.
Fast Updates
POCO claims that they will provide regular security patches. They also claim that they will start rolling out the Android 9.0 Pie update in Q4 2018. We hope that POCO does not carry on MIUI’s tradition of slow updates as it claims to do.
MIUI for POCO is defiantly a spiced up version of regular MIUI with features that were not present in it and fans really wanted. MIUI for POCO is all we wanted regular MIUI to be and hope that more features are added to it as it is now a flagship ROM. MIUI for POCO will definitely get better will updates and improve over time.
