Corning Gorilla Glass 6, 2X Durable Than Predecessor Unveiled With DX & DX+!

     Yesterday, Corning launched successor of Gorilla glass 5 that is Gorilla Glass 6 alongside DX and DX+ which got over staged by the bigger Gorilla Glass 6. Corning also said that Gorilla Glass 6 will be made from a completely new composition of glass and can be chemically strengthen more than 5. Dr. Jaymin Amin, Vice President of Technology and Product Development, said, "Gorilla Glass 6 is an entirely new glass composition that can be chemically strengthened to give it significantly higher levels of compression than is possible with Gorilla Glass 5". He added, "This enables Gorilla Glass 6 to be more resistant to damage. Moreover, with breaks during drops being a probabilistic event, the added compression helps increase, on average, the likelihood of survival through multiple drop events." Corning Gorilla Glass 6 is also optically clearer, touch sensitivity, scratch resistance, enhanced support for wireless charging, and better durability.

     DX and DX+ were upstaged by Gorilla Glass 6 and are made for Smartwatches. Until now SR+ was the solution for protection of glass on Smartwatches. DX and DX+ are both made for Smartwatches with DX+ obviously being the better one. DX+ is the superior for damages like scratches, Knocks, Bumps and hits and is better than DX. DX and DX+ both offer better contrast and clarity they say it is 50% contrast ratio at same brightness level. They also improve the readability by 75% by front glass reflection against standard glass.

     We expect Gorilla Glass 6 to be seen in upcoming flagships like Samsung Galaxy Note 9 as Note 7 was the first to be launched with Gorilla Glass 5. While Corning says Gorilla Glass 6 is expected to hit the market in next several months without specifying any details of phones with Gorilla Glass 6.
