Augmented Reality Explained! And It’s Implementation In Apps!
We all are
aware of Virtual Reality or VR in its vivid forms with various VR headsets in
the market. But, AR that is Augmented Reality is not as much discussed as VR
but is integrated in many apps we have used or are coming to Play Store and App
Store soon. Now what is Augmented Reality in real life? Augmented reality is
placing Virtual Objects in Real Life with the help of your Camera and Software
such as many apps already available to download. AR is useful in many ways and
forms for various reasons and many of its implementations are in progress. The primary
value of augmented reality is that it brings components of the digital world
into a person's perception of the real world, and does so not as a simple
display of data, but through the integration of immersive sensations that are
perceived as natural parts of an environment.
Augmented Reality is an experience in
which real-life environments are somewhat edited and presented in a device
generally your smartphones and makes you enter the virtual world with the help
of Visual, Audio, Haptic, Somatosensory, and Olfactory representation. What it
actually means is AR binds the Real World and the Virtual World giving you an
experience of various activities. The easiest way of explaining this is the
famous game Pokémon Go. The game used your phones camera to Represent Pokémon’s
in Real life. Another example of this is various apps which use your real world
scenarios to visualise something from the Virtual world such as Gandhi AR. The
recent mention of AR was at Google I/O 2018 where there are improvements expected
in Google Maps to help you navigate effectively and easily in real world by
representing data from Google Maps and placing it in real world. Now, what
hardware does it need? It requires Accelerometer, GPS, A Compass, A Display and
A camera, which are generally present in our smartphones and Tablets. There are
also many other devices such as Google Glass and others. There are many uses of
AR in various fields such as Commerce, Arts, and Business. One of such uses is
AR for purchasing Home Décor and Furniture and is put forth by Amazon in Amazon
AR view. You may be using many Apps daily which provide AR such as Snapchat,
Video Games, Amazon or Ikea AR, Navigation and many others.
Augmented Reality is growing fast and is making
its way into any sectors by providing users easy and creative solutions.
Augmented Reality is still existing in various Apps we use daily such as
Snapchat, Pokémon Go, Amazon AR, Gandhi AR, and Google Maps and even Street
View. The implementation of Augmented Reality in consumer products
requires considering the design of the applications and the related constraints
of the technology platform. Since AR system rely heavily on the immersion of
the user and the interaction between the user and the system, design can
facilitate the adoption of virtuality. For most Augmented Reality systems, a
similar design guideline can be followed. This what we think about
Augmented Reality and its Implementations in near future and today. To read
