OnePlus to be among First 5G Smartphone Manufacturers in 2019!
We have said it before and we will say it
again “5G is right around the corner!” The Mi Mix 3 will be among the first
5G-supporting smartphones on the market which is coming to you this 25th October
in Beijing. Verizon launched home 5G service uses a number of technologies that
have been deemed a part of 5G. And now OnePlus is jumping onto the 5G train!
Not quite yet but it early 2019 when the
tech will be fully developed and available to the end consumer in all markets
and the actual bands will be available. Carl Pei, OnePlus co-founder, said his
team will be among the first to launch a 5G-enabled flagship, likely called
OnePlus 7. A dedicated conference for transition from 4G to 5G was held in Hong
Kong and plenty of manufacturers have used the
occasion to announce their plans for the next big thing in the mobile world.
The President of Qualcomm, Cristiano Amon,
announced that there will at least be two Android flagships with 5G support next
year. These 5G supporting Android phones except the ones from Samsung will rely
on the Snapdragon X50 modem with the downsized QTM052 mmWave antenna module,
announced at the conference. Carl Pei
joined him on stage to say the OnePlus smartphone will appear in H1 2019.
Qualcomm had a list of all
other companies which will support 5G with the aid of X50 5G NR modem includes
Asus, HMD Global, LG, Motorola, Oppo, Sony, vivo, and Xiaomi. There were even
some niche brands like Sony which are not very active but the big guns- Samsung
and Huawei were missing which means that Samsung and Huawei will work on their
