Microsoft Announces Surface Laptop 2, Surface Studio 2, Surface Pro 6, & Surface Headphones!

Microsoft announced a bunch of new and improvised new hardware at their special of an event. The Surface line-up of products for 2018 was unveiled at the event with the new addition to the line-up being the Surface Headphones. We will have individual articles highlighting each and every product soon enough but let’s take a look at their overview.

Surface Laptop 2

The Surface Laptop was a product for everyone with components varying from an i5 to an i7. The new Surface laptop 2 is about a mind-boggling 85% faster than the previous models. There is still no USB-C port on the device and screen is still 13.5", but now has a 1500:1 contrast ratio and Microsoft is quoting 14.5 hours of battery life. Typing on the Surface Laptop 2 should be quieter than on its predecessor, much like what Apple did with the new MacBook’s. The device will be available from 16th October and pre-orders start today.

Surface Studio 2

The surface Studio 2 is just a spec bump form the last year with the design being identical. But it packs in some great specs for the creative professionals, starting with the screen’s 38% brightness increase (500 nits) and 22% more contrast. The device also features NVidia’s next-gen pascal graphics and 2TB of fast SSD storage. The starting price will be a substantial $3,499. Pre-orders should be available today.

Surface Pro 6
The Surface Pro 6 should be the go-to device for creative individuals in the market for a Hybrid Convertible device which has quite a bit of power. The Surface Pro 6 has better cooling which is good to cool the new 8th Gen Intel CPUs it’s rocking. Microsoft says that it is 65% faster than the previous version. You can expect 13.5 hours of battery life. The device weighs 1.7 pounds and has the same 12.3-inch display and up to 16GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD. The base model with core i5 starts at $899 and it will be released on October 16, with pre-orders set to debut today.

Surface Headphones
Microsoft is entering the hard-to-crack headphones market with the Surface headphones. The Surface headphones have 13-level noise cancellation with Cortana Built-in. The headphones can be paired using Bluetooth and have 40mm drivers, 4 beamforming mics, and 4 active noise canceling mics. They will cost $350 when they go on sale later this year.

This year’s surface event was exactly what we expect Microsoft to do. New device line-ups were not expected as Microsoft just keeps refining the existing ones. For detailed articles on each of the products, stay tuned with RW Tech Blog.
