Xiaomi Redmi Note 6, 6A & 6 Pro set for Launch on 5th September! Learn About Specifications & Pricing!

Xiaomi is all set to launch Redmi Note 6, 6A and 6 Pro after launching the Redmi Note 5 and 5 Pro in February and selling about 5 million units in the mean period. All of these 6 and 6A Redmi phones were recently launched in China alongside each other, and the Redmi 6 Pro being unveiled a couple of weeks later. Xiaomi has already made Invites for the launch event on 5th September in Delhi. The Global VP, Manu Kumar Jain, recently tweeted "#DeshKeNayeSmartphones! Mi fans! We've got more than one for you! Coming very soon."

The tweet does not clearly mention the arrival of 6-series phones, but it is expected that Xiaomi is going to bring the 6 series phone based on their YouTube videos and other mentions. Two of the smartphones feature no display notches, while the third one does - clearly pointing to the Redmi 6 Pro, which is the only one amongst the three to sport a display notch. Let’s take a look at the specifications of the Redmi 6 series. (The specifications of Redmi phones available in China)

Redmi 6

The Redmi 6 in China is powered by the Octa-core 12nm MediaTek Helio P22 SoC (clocked at 2GHz) processor but will have a Qualcomm Snapdragon as it does not sell MediaTek phones in India. The Redmi 6 is a dual-SIM smartphone and runs MIUI 9 based on Android 8.1 Oreo. It features a 5.45-inch HD+ (720x1440 pixels) IPS LCD display. A dual camera setup with a 12-megapixel primary sensor and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor, a 5-megapixel front camera, a 3,000mAh battery, as well as expandable storage via microSD card (up to 256GB) with a dedicated slot.

Redmi 6A

The Redmi 6A in China packs in a quad-core 12nm MediaTek Helio A22 SoC which translates to a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450. The Redmi 6A is a stealthier version of the Redmi 6 which has the same Display size, Display resolution, pixel count, battery, MIUI 9.6 on Android 8.1 Oreo, and same 18:9 aspect ratio! But that’s where the similarities end and differences begin! The Redmi 6A features a single 13-megapixel rear camera; a 5-megapixel front camera; a 3,000mAh battery, expandable storage via microSD card (up to 256GB) with a dedicated slot.

Redmi 6 Pro

The Redmi 6 Pro is a better variant with a faster Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC clocked up to 2GHz. The Redmi 6 Pro is a dual-SIM smartphone that runs MIUI 9 based on Android 8.1 Oreo. It sports a 5.84-inch Full-HD+ (1080x2280 pixels) IPS LCD display although it has a notched display.  A dual rear camera setup with a 12-megapixel primary sensor and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor; a 5-megapixel front camera which sounds identical to the Redmi Note 5 Pro; expandable storage via microSD card (up to 256GB) with a dedicated slot, and a 4000mAh battery. The Redmi Note 6 Pro is expected to be priced between 200 - 250 euros which roughly translates to Rs 16,000 - Rs 20,000.

The Redmi 6 series seems not to be that powerful or a much note-worthy upgrade over the much loved and sold Redmi 5 series. The Redmi brand is well-known for providing great devices with even greater prices. The Redmi 6 series although does not seem true if they will be launched with the same specs as Chinese variants at the same price! The devices will be available in 2GB/3GB/4GB RAM and 16GB/32GB/64GB Storage. For more on these devices and other Tech News and Tech Information, Visit RW Tech Blog.
