Is USB Type ‘C’ The Future? Why Is It So Important? USB Type ‘C’ Explained!
Each and every new device,
weather a Phone, a Laptop, A Power Bank, A Speaker, even a Dumb Phone (I’m
Kidding. No, Dumb Phone has USB-C). But, all new devices by major manufacturers
feature a USB- Type C, but the question arises “Is it really that important?”
The short answer is “Yes”. The long answer is this entire article. USB-Type C
was first brought into limelight by Apple in its MacBook, which had only one
USB-C. Which was fine since it performed all tasks such as charging the device
as well as data transfer, But it wasn’t until later when Apple realized that
one port was not enough as user would have to live a dongle life to not give up
on battery as well as data transfer. But, that was the initiation of beginning
of the USB-C era. The next MacBook that was made by Apple had a couple of more
USB-C. Which made the USB-C revolution a lot faster. And Smartphones already
feature USB-C as it is the next and latest generation of Universal Serial Bus.
But, why is it growing faster than any previous generation?
USB-C is the center of focus in the
industry-standard connector for transmitting both data and power. The USB-C
connector was developed by the USB Implementers Forum, the group of companies
that has developed, certified, and shepherded the USB standard. USB Type-C,
is a 24-pin USB
connector system, which is distinguished by its two-fold rotational-symmetrical
connector. To connect an older device to a host with a USB-C receptacle
requires a cable or adapter with a USB-A or USB-B plug or receptacle on one end
and a USB-C plug on the other end. Legacy adapters with a USB-C receptacle are
"not defined or allowed" by the specification because they can create
"many invalid and potentially unsafe" cable combinations. The USB-C
connectors connect to both hosts and devices, replacing various USB-B and USB-A
connectors and cables with a standard meant to be future-proof. Now that was
all the technical mumbo-jumbo, which is to be understood to know the feature of
USB-C over Micro-USB and Mini-USB. As we all know that Smartphones, Laptops,
Notebooks and Tablets are getting thinner and thinner with improvement in technology.
Thus, It is not viable to put a full sized USB-A on these slim and slick
devices, because that would lead to the dongle life or giving up with
portability. USB-C is definitely an upgrade for Micro-USB, so it has higher
data transfer speeds as well as support for higher current transfer, which
helps Fast Charging, Turbo Charge and Boost Charge.
USB-C
also need cables which can bear high current, thus all USB-C cables must be
able to carry a minimum of 3 A current but can also carry high-power
5 A current. All USB-C to USB-C cables must contain e-marker chips
programmed to identify the cable and its current capabilities. USB Charging
ports should also be clearly marked with capable power wattage. And while
browsing the internet you have surely seen a USB joke. First try- no sale,
Second try- Other side, Third try-No it fits and fourth try for
self-satisfaction. Yeah, we have all been there once in a while. With USB-C
side of the cable is not going to bother you anymore as it is reversible. What
does that mean for you, Put it either ways or it still works. Talking about the
future, surely USB-C or 3.0 is the future as it is the next generation USB.
That was all that makes USB-C a better
choice than Micro and Mini. USB-C has better data transfer speeds and can bare
higher current which helps with Quick-charge, Turbo Charge and Boost Charge. Plus
the old USB meme takes its retirement happily with USB-C taking over by being reversible.
And of course USB-C supports all software such as Windows, Android, Mac, and
others, Provided that they also feature required Hardware. That was our take on
USB-C being the future as it is the successor of the much-like Micro-USB. To
