Are we happier than our Ancestors?

Have you ever dreamt of living in another century? Well, if you have then the most common reason for thinking so is your quest for happiness and to get rid of tensions. Today's world is monotonous and of rigmarole. Our lives are scheduled and our happy and pleasant vibes are subdued. All of us wish to be happy in our own lives, don't we? But are we sad or not happy in our lives? Then why do we think so? Good things happen to us too, but why don't we enjoy happiness as our ancestors did? Is the reason lonesome, pollution, global warming or something else? Well to get to that we will first need to know the true meaning of happiness.

Happiness is translated from the Greek concept of eudaimonia, and refers to the good life, or flourishing, as opposed to an emotion. In psychology, happiness is a mental or emotional state of well-being which can be defined by, among others, positive or pleasant emotions ranging from contentment to intense joy. Happy mental states may reflect judgements by a person about their overall well-being. Although good things happen to us, yet we don't truly feel happy! One of the main reason is our materialistic mentality and changing desires. But, what does materialistic mentality mean? It means being attached to objects and things around us for happiness. And our passion or hobbies are everchanging, which abides us from attaining happiness. Whereas, our ancestors used to associate happiness with people and look for in small bits of life. They use to socially interact with people by stepping outside of the house, having get-togethers and camps and travelling.

PEOPLE GATHERED TOGETHER, ENJOYING!

They were not whisked not whisked away by objects they were happy for people and events. They used to find happiness in their daily life chores and errands. When swapped up at work, after coming home they would not watch T.V or play games, instead, they would step out and enjoy the nature and enjoy its alchemy. They thought of nature as an alchemist. During vacations and holidays, they would go out on camping, hiking and trekking. When we have a vacation we would sleep on our couch and play games and watch T.V. We need clowns of technology to make us happy. We find technology as a source of happiness. Our ancestors used to talk each other for happiness and for jokes and funny incidents instead of sharing jokes, memes and GIFs.

PERSON PLAYING AFTER WORK
The sources of happiness have changed thus changing the effects of happiness too. Our happiness is temporary and is never fully achievable. We could say our happiness is like illusion and mirage. Our ancestors experienced the true meaning of happiness that we can achieve after a lot of penance. We associate happiness with objects,  which is why we can't achieve it. Thus, our ancestors were happier than us.
