Snapdragon 855 is Qualcomm’s First 7nm Chipset With Improved Imaging & Efficiency!

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8150 is now official and according to a report, just hours before the launch is called Snapdragon 855. Qualcomm announced the chipset today with not much hype around. The chip is indeed the manufacture’s first 7nm based chipset while Qualcomm tries to catch-up with others.
Chipset after Apple and Huawei but its main emphasis is improving battery life and performance concurrently. QUALCOMM says, “up to three times the AI performance compared to the previous generation mobile platform”.

The augmented reality experience is also said to improve as there is a new dedicated vision processor that can now process depth mapping at 60 frames per second. The same vision processor helps shoot 4K at 60fps while consuming 25% less power.

Also, the 855 is 5G compatible and it will come integrated with Qualcomm’s new X24 LTE modem instead of the already existing X50. The X24 LTE is, on paper, capable of speeds up of to 2Gbps. Qualcomm is now marketing its Ultrasonic, Under-Display Fingerprint Sensor as Qualcomm 3D Sonic Sensor.
Whether or not it proves to be a big step forward in processing power, battery life, image processing, gaming, machine learning, or any of the other features that Qualcomm tries to improve each year.

Those smaller circuits generally mean improvements in efficiency, which could mean more performance, battery life, or both, so expect all major flagships to be equipped with this chip. More details on the chip will be available tomorrow as the as the Snapdragon Technology Summit continues, so check back for more. To know what happens next in the Tech World, Visit RW Tech Blog.
