Samsung To Manufacture At least 1 Million Foldable Smartphones!

The foldable phone, which is essentially a tablet when fully opened and a phone when closed, was demonstrated by Samsung’s Senior Vice President of Mobile Marketing Justin Denison at SDC. Samsung Electronics Co. will roll out its foldable phone in the first half of next year and produce at least 1 million of them, Yonhap News reported, citing the company’s smartphone chief DJ Koh.

A new version of the foldable phone will be unveiled every year like Samsung’s flagship phones, such as the Galaxy S9. The company may raise the production volume of its foldable devices depending on market reception, Koh was quoted as saying. Samsung shipped more than 300 million phones in total last year, according to TrendForce, a market research firm.

Google is also with Samsung on this and will let the world see a special version of Android for folding phones. Meanwhile, the tech giant also announced it would join the notch bandwagon soon. During the keynote, the firm showed several notch designs that are certainly coming to Samsung-branded smartphones beginning in 2019. A new version of the foldable phone will be unveiled every year like Samsung’s flagship phones, such as the Galaxy S9.

The Samsung Foldable phone also looks hideous with huge bezels on the top and bottom and a square and boxy design contrasting the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy Note9 with curving infinity display and others. The South Korean tech giant said the device would be mass produced in the coming months. However, the smartphone showcased at the Samsung Developer Conference isn’t the final product.
