Ad Block Explained!! Do You Really Need It?
Ad Block- nearly 500 million of the internet users have
it installed as a chrome extension on their devices. But, the question arises, ‘Do
you really need it?’ If more than 500 million people are actually using it
there must be some use or need of it! We are here talking about Ad Block Plus previously
known as Ad Block. AdBlock is a content filtering and ad blocking extension for
the Google Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Opera and Edge. AdBlock allows user to
prevent page elements, such as advertisements, from being displayed. Ad Block
is still being used by just a fraction of total internet users.
Most of you
have installed ad blocks by their experience with bad ads just floating around the
internet. Ask yourself a question before installing Ad Block, Was it a
well-established website? Was it not a sketchy website? Of course it was a sketchy
one. Well-established websites value their user’s experience a lot and get most
of their revenues by ads and paid content and other stuff such as affiliate links.
These sites would not want you to use ad blocks on their websites as it effects
their revenues and overall performance. These big websites hire many people for
their specialized fields. These websites have different people editing thumbnails,
writers, sales people, Marketing team and support too.
These websites
thus turn towards other ways to increase their revenues to come away from the
loss caused by ad block. They move towards Paid Content, Sponsors, Partners,
and Review unit providers. The theme or the tagline of AdBlock plus is Browse
the web without annoying and intrusive ads. In their description they mention
AdBlock plus blocks Video Ads, Banners, Pop-ups, and other annoying ads.
AdBlock Plus
does support Acceptable Ads initiative. By default, Acceptable ads are shown, which
helps support websites that rely on advertising revenues, but choose to only show
nonintrusive ads- Says their description. Right next to it- This can be
disabled at any time for users who wish to block all ads. It has to be noted
that we are also a website which relies on ad revenue to keep the site running
and only exhibit 4 ads per page at the side of the page. You would have known
that if you disable AdBlock on our site.
What AdBlock
does is scan the HTML page to find any sort of ad or ads and then eliminates it
and display the page without any ad code. The acceptable Ads feature of AdBlock
Plus is straight up s#!t! You might be surprise to find out that Google Chrome
comes pre-installed with AdBlock. This AdBlock blocks all the malicious pop-ups
and other harmful ads, which may pop-up while you are casting a show on your TV
and ads for some malicious website shows up. If any pop-ups still showup there
is some crapware on your device and you are up for a quick or maybe a full
malware check.
Other than the
fact that AdBlock is unethical and immoral as they make the website creator out
of business. Also according to the law the publisher has the right and work to
set the price of the content and not the consumer or viewer. Just think about
it this way, Every time you visit a website which earns revenue by ads you are
taking a bite of food out of the creator’s mouth. Also sometimes AdBlock also
blocks pop-ups by sites for logins and signups which are mandatory.
AdBlock is
still going to be installed on many of your devices. If you are still going to
install AdBlock on your device think what you are doing. All of the creators on
the web re somewhat being affected by one decision of yours. AdBlock is still
the most popular extension for all browsers. Some sites are trying to warn
users about AdBlock but that all they can do right now. AdBlock was initially
released back in 2009. And we hope you don’t use it on our site. And to read
