Do You Fast Charge Your Smartphone? Fast Charging Explained!
How many times have you cursed your phone because it doesn’t
charge quickly? Fast charging can help you with that at all time and save your precious
time and battery for you to play PUBG on your phone! But, do you even know what
fast charging is? Fast Charging is a technology used to charge a device
typically smartphones faster by allowing more power to be delivered through
USB. It usually also requires USB-C, Which you can learn more about here. But,
How do you Quick Charge your phone? Till the end of this article you should
have your answer.
Fast Charging
is adopted by many different Companies in their way with many names such as
Qualcomm Quick Charge, Turbo Charge, Adaptive Charge, Dash Charge, Super
Charge, Super Vooc etc. What all of these technologies do is increasing the amount
of juice(Power) being supplied to your phone. But, Just supplying more power
can be harmful for your device and can cause blasts! The standard ratings of a
charger are 5 V (Volts) and 1 Amp (Ampere), Where as a Fast charging device
supports ratings such as 9 V, 2 Amp and 12 V, 2 Amp. Many of these technologies
use these rating with a couple of tweaks. But, Just using a Fast Charger to
Charge your phone doesn’t do the trick. Your phone needs to support Fast
Charging too.
If your Smartphone
supports Fast Charging it will be mentioned on the specs page or on the box or
you can find out by the rating or your charger. These rating specifically 9 V,
2 Amp and others have been tested on your phone and if it supports them they
are enabled with Fast Charge. To fast charge a phone a Fast charging capable
USB port and a Cable is also necessary. Meanwhile, It is necessary to remember
that Fast Charge is not intended to charge your phone from 1% to 100% in 10
minutes. As the level of battery or charge increases Fast Charge starts to
slow-down and most chargers take half hour to charge the phone from 1% to 80%
and then take another half or one hour to charge from 80% to 100%. This is for
increasing battery life and to prevent any accidental overcharges and defects
to the battery.
The best way
to check if your phone supports Quick Charge is to head on to the Quick Charge
page here. And if it supports anything other than Qualcomm Quick Charge it will
be advertised somewhere or other. The best Fast Charging Technology to this
date is Dash Charge by OnePlus. It charges their OnePlus phones from 2% to 100%
in just 1 Hour 15 Minutes, While maintaining comfortable temperatures. Qualcomm
4.0 is the fastest but only enable in the Razer phone and claims to charge your
phone in just 15 minutes. The most commonly used Fast Charging Technology is
Quick Charging in its various versions such as QC 1.0, QC 2.0, QC 3.0, QC 4.0
and QC 4.0 +. Here is a list of Voltage, Current and Maximum power in each of
the ones mentioned above as example.
